The list of the top 500 private enterprises in China in 2023 has been released! 30 construction companies are on the list!
On September 12th, the 2023 China Top 500 Private Enterprises Summit, jointly hosted by the All China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Shandong Provincial People's Government, was held in Jinan, Shandong. This year is the 25th consecutive survey of private enterprises organized by the All China Federation of Industry and Commerce, with a total of 8961 enterprises with annual operating income of over 500 million yuan participating. The entry threshold for the top 500 private enterprises reached 27.578 billion yuan, an increase of 1.211 billion yuan from the previous year. This time, a total of 30 private enterprises in the construction industry were listed.
Analysis of the Top 500 Private Enterprises in 2023
1、 Business situation. The total operating revenue of the top 500 private enterprises was 39.83 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.94%. The total assets amounted to 46.31 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.21%. After tax net profit was 1.64 trillion yuan, a decrease of 4.86%. The sales net profit margin, asset net profit margin, and net asset return rate of the top 500 private enterprises are 4.13%, 3.67%, and 10.81%, respectively. The per capita operating income and net profit are 3.6304 million yuan and 149800 yuan, respectively. The total asset turnover rate is 88.86%.
2、 Industrial distribution situation. There were 359 shortlisted enterprises in the secondary industry, an increase of 17 compared to the previous year. The total operating income increased by 4.48 percentage points compared to the previous year, and the total assets increased by 0.62 percentage points compared to the previous year. 322 manufacturing enterprises continue to maintain their dominant position. The top ten industries of the top 500 private enterprises include 303 enterprises, with black metal smelting and rolling processing industry, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, and wholesale industry ranking among the top.
3、 Technological innovation situation. Among the top 500 private enterprises, 326 enterprises have R&D personnel accounting for more than 3% of the total number of employees, and 175 enterprises have R&D personnel accounting for more than 10%. 86 companies have an R&D investment intensity exceeding 3%, and 8 companies have an investment intensity exceeding 10%. Tencent Holdings Limited ranks first with a research and development investment of 61.401 billion yuan. Among the top 500 private enterprises, 414 enterprises mainly rely on independent development and research for their key technologies, while 432 enterprises complete the transformation of scientific and technological achievements through self raised funds. More than 90% of the Fortune 500 companies have implemented or planned to implement digital transformation at different levels, and nearly 90% of companies have taken various measures to implement green and low-carbon development. The number of valid patents of the top 500 private enterprises decreased by 3.86% compared to the previous year, among which the number of valid patents in China increased by 8.42%; The number of valid trademark registrations in China increased by 3.90% compared to the previous year, while the number of international trademark registrations in Madrid increased by 55.40%.
4、 Taxation and employment situation. The total tax payment of the top 500 private enterprises reached 1.25 trillion yuan, accounting for 7.51% of the total national tax revenue. There are a total of three enterprises with tax payments exceeding 40 billion yuan, namely: Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. (47.362 billion yuan), Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group Co., Ltd. (41.223 billion yuan), and Tencent Holdings Co., Ltd. (40.612 billion yuan). The total number of employed people in the top 500 private enterprises is 10.9721 million, accounting for 1.50% of the total employed population in the country. Among them, BYD Co., Ltd. ranks first in terms of employment, with 570100 people.
5、 Participation in major national decision-making and deployment. Among the top 500 private enterprises, 470 enterprises actively prevent and resolve major risks, and 425 enterprises participate in the battle against pollution prevention and control. 354 enterprises participated in the regional coordinated development strategy, among which 167, 147, 115, 113, and 109 enterprises respectively participated in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the coordinated development of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, and the Western Development. 358 enterprises participated in rural revitalization, among which 47.80% and 45.00% of the top 500 enterprises respectively promoted industrial prosperity, increased farmers' income, consolidated poverty alleviation achievements, and improved people's livelihood security. 329 enterprises participated in the "Ten Thousand Enterprises Revitalize Ten Thousand Villages" action, and 47.20% of the top 500 enterprises continued to promote industrial assistance projects and consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation.
6、 Implementation of international development situation. The total export value of the top 500 private enterprises was 276.364 billion US dollars, an increase of 30.934 billion US dollars from the previous year, with a growth rate of 12.60%, accounting for 7.69% of China's total export value, an increase of 0.39 percentage points from the previous year. 148 top 500 enterprises participated in the construction of the "the Belt and Road", 47 less than the previous year. 188 Fortune 500 companies conducted overseas investments, with 2436 overseas investment projects (companies), a decrease of 20.00% and 9.81% respectively.
7、 Compliance with laws, regulations, and integrity in business operations. 455 Fortune 500 companies have established sound legal risk control systems and early warning and prevention mechanisms, 452 companies have formed a corporate legal culture that emphasizes the rule of law, rules, and integrity, and 433 companies have promoted factory transparency and democratic management. The top 500 private enterprises continue to improve their credit construction level, with 476 and 413 enterprises respectively establishing a corporate integrity culture and credit system, accounting for 95.20% and 82.60% of the top 500, respectively. Enterprises with credit management departments and dedicated credit management personnel account for 71.80% and 63.60% of the top 500 companies, respectively. 375 enterprises have carried out activities such as industry self-discipline and joint self-discipline of chambers of commerce and enterprises.
