At the same time, many domestic regions are exploring the relaxation of policies on hazardous chemical permits for renewable energy hydrogen production, which has also pressed the fast forward button for the development of the hydrogen energy industry.

According to CCTV, the total investment in China's green hydrogen projects exceeded 300 billion yuan this year, and the chemical industry is a pioneer in this field. The orders for hydrogen production equipment are rapidly increasing, with the majority coming from chemical industries such as synthetic ammonia and methanol. What is the prospect of green hydrogen being applied in the chemical industry? What is the market size?



In Songyuan, Jilin, the world's largest integrated green hydrogen ammonia alcohol project is under construction, which produces green hydrogen through local wind, solar, and photovoltaic power, and then synthesizes ammonia and methanol through green hydrogen. The total investment of the project is 29.6 billion yuan. We plan to produce 600000 tons of green synthetic ammonia annually, mainly targeting overseas markets.

In Da'an, Jilin, the integrated project of wind solar green hydrogen and ammonia synthesis has also started construction, realizing the large-scale application of domestically produced and independent PEM hydrogen production equipment. Green hydrogen is produced by electrolyzing water with green electricity as the power source, and green ammonia is synthesized from green hydrogen as the raw material. The liquid ammonia is stored in spherical tanks and finally sold.

Qiao Liang, General Manager of State Power Investment Da'an Green Hydrogen Company: The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2024, and a 10 million kilowatt new energy hydrogen production base will be built in western Jilin by 2030.

It is reported that the European Parliament has approved several key pieces of legislation for carbon market reform this year, and is incorporating various aspects of green hydrogen production, transportation, and utilization into the carbon emission management system, which will have a significant impact on China's chemical product exports. At present, about 80% of the hydrogen used in the chemical industry, represented by synthetic ammonia and methanol, accounts for hydrogen energy in China. In 2022, synthetic ammonia will account for about 31% of the total hydrogen consumption. It is expected that after this part of hydrogen is completely replaced by green hydrogen in the future, it can achieve an annual carbon reduction of over 200 million tons.
