United Petrochemical has completed the first purchase of bio-jet fuel in China.
The Singapore branch of United Petrochemical Corporation and the leading domestic producer of bio-jet fuel - EAG Corporation have completed the purchase of 30,000 tons of pure bio-jet fuel. This batch of goods will be transported to the self-owned storage tanks of United Petrochemical Corporation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for price adjustment and sales. This is the first bio-jet fuel purchase completed by United Petrochemical Corporation in China, marking that the company has further opened up the domestic bio-jet fuel trading channels and the price adjustment and process. It will significantly enhance the brand influence of Sinopec in the international jet fuel market.
Compared with traditional petroleum-based aviation kerosene, the carbon emissions throughout the entire life cycle of bioaviation fuel are reduced by more than 50%. It is well compatible with existing aircraft and civil aviation infrastructure, and is one of the main development directions for carbon reduction in the global aviation industry.
United Petrochemical Company has responded to the green development trend and has been actively promoting the expansion of bio-jet fuel business. It has been actively purchasing bio-jet fuel domestically and exporting it to Europe. Since successfully launching the bio-jet fuel blending business in Europe in 2023, the Singapore branch of United Petrochemical Company has cumulatively purchased 43,000 tons of pure bio-jet fuel and supplied it to major airports and airlines in Europe.
