On the morning of February 20th, the groundbreaking ceremony for major projects in the first quarter of 2024 in Hengyang City, Hunan Province was held at the site of the Hengdong County Saline Alkali Industrial Base project.
The Hengyang Green Low Carbon Salt and Alkali Industrial Base Project is a key project to implement the "Three Highs and Four News" strategic deployment of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Government, and to create an industrial pattern of "North Petrochemical and South Salt and Alkali". It is listed as one of the top ten industrial projects in the province. The total investment of the project is about 10.18 billion yuan, and the main construction content includes 800000 tons/year of combined alkali production, 600000 tons/year of synthetic ammonia, 500000 tons/year of urea, cogeneration and other facilities. After the completion of the project, it will be beneficial to fully utilize the salt brine resources and location advantages of Hengyang, and strengthen the salt brine chemical industry chain in the province.
At present, the project has completed the transfer of production capacity indicators, land delisting, approval and other work, and the project design, equipment selection and other work are also progressing in an orderly manner. Li Zhiyong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Hunan Light Industry and Salt Industry Group Co., Ltd., stated that in the next stage, the Light Salt Group will use "salt" as the basis to extend and strengthen the chain, and build the project into a demonstration project and model project for the whole province and even the whole country.
It is reported that the Hengyang Alkali Base Project is located in Hengdong Economic Development Zone, invested and constructed by Hunan Light Industry and Salt Industry Group. The project has advanced technology, environmental protection and energy conservation, and significant benefits. After completion, it will be conducive to fully utilizing Hengyang's salt brine resources and location advantages. At the same time, it will play a significant role in improving the basic chemical industry cluster in southern Hunan and promoting local economic and social development.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Tan Jianhua, Secretary of the Hengdong County Party Committee, introduced that "we have completed the identification of the chemical industrial park in the Economic Development Zone, the expansion of the adjustment zone, and the land acquisition and approval of 1234.5 acres for the green saline alkali industrial base project in just one year, creating the 'Hengdong speed' of project construction

It is reported that the location advantage of the Heng Alkali Base project is obvious, and the products are mainly sold to the South China region. Currently, the production capacity of pure alkali in provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, and Jiangxi in the region is only 1.2 million tons, and the market demand is about 5.8 million tons. After the completion of the project, it is expected to generate an annual revenue of 4 billion yuan and a profit of 825 million yuan.
