Recently, Honeywell announced that Inner Mongolia Jiutai Group has adopted Honeywell UOP eFiningTM process technology to build a 100,000-ton per year methanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project. This collaboration is the first commercial contract for eFiningTM technology signed by Honeywell globally, and it also indicates that Honeywell is actively adapting to the three strong trends of energy transition, future aviation, and automation to conduct business.

Honeywell UOP eFiningTM is a methanol-to-aircraft-fuel (MTJ) process technology that can reliably convert electronic methanol (eMethanol) into electronic fuels (eSAF) on a large scale, at a cost lower than that of similar technologies. Using methanol synthesized from carbon dioxide and green hydrogen as the raw material, Honeywell UOP eFiningTM significantly expands the types of raw materials for sustainable aviation fuels. Compared to traditional aviation fuels, the eSAF produced by this process can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 88%.
